U.S. ARMY COLLAPSIBLE CANVAS SHOWER PAIL - WATER BUCKET
(Scroll down to read item description/condition below story)

Private First Class Eddy Jakowski lifted the canvas bucket filled with water and stumbled over to the jeep, water sloshing out onto his fatigues. He set it down and dipped a rag into the bucket and then slapped the water-logged rag onto the hood of the jeep and began to wash off the mud and grime. In his eyes, Eddy one of the worst assignments in all the U.S. Seventh Army—he had been assigned as the driver to Colonel Frank Floogleman. Colonel Floogleman was known throughout the ranks as “Colonel Clean” because he was quite fastidious about his appearance and that of his vehicle as well. The Colonel refused to travel in a dirty jeep. Of course it was rather difficult to keep a jeep clean while fighting the in Korea near Inchon, so needless to say, Eddy found himself washing Floogleman’s jeep almost daily.

Eddy was just finished drying the sparkling clean jeep when a Pershing tank rolled by, its tracks spitting a fresh dose of Korean country mud on the side of Colonel Clean’s jeep. After a muttering a few choice words about a particular Colonel and the idiot driving the tank, Eddy took a deep breath and reached for the canvas bucket again.

ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Here's an interesting find- a Korean war - Vietnam war era U.S. Army collapsible 5 gallon cotton canvas shower pail. This bucket would have been used in the field as a shower or general utility bucket. It stands 12" tall (plus handle), is 11.5" in diameter when fully extended and is made out of heavy olive drab cotton duck canvas with a metal ring on the top and bottom. It has "U.S." stenciled on one side and the manufacturer's name "Barlow Mfg" as well as manufacturing info printed on the bottom. It stores flat and then expands when filled with water and there is a threaded brass fitting on the bottom which would have had a shower head screwed in (no shower head included) for use as a shower in the field. The fitting has a cork in it. It has a 2" wide cotton webbed handle attached.

CONDITION:
This item is in good vintage condition with no rips, holes or tears. The canvas has some light stains and fading but is structurally sound. The "U.S." printing is faded but still legible. The handle is firmly attached. It will still hold water for a short while but will does seep out so it would not be good for storing water for extended time periods so we are selling as military collectible or display item.
